Modern Balustrade for a Very Modern Home

SWR are proud to have supplied the Frameless Glass Channel balustrade for this immaculate modern home in Potters Bar.The Story
This unique property was built completely off site by Richard Mitzman. An award-winning architect who David Jay, one of the home owners, was friends with at school. Both architect and customers strongly believe in environmental responsibility - a principle that has guided the design since the beginning.
Their new home is what is known as a ‘passive house’: a standard for buildings which use very little energy. For example, their home is only powered by electricity as opposed to gas while the heat recovery system significantly improves energy efficiency by reducing heating and cooling demands.
Another feature is the living roof. As you can see from the pictures the top is completely covered in vegetation! It’s a natural way to absorb rainwater, lower air temperature and provide insulation.
The customer needed balustrade for their large balcony which overlooks the 18th hole of the local golf course. The Jays had used SWR’s services at their previous property and was happy with the results:

The Result
The customer chose our frameless glass system to take full advantage of the view from his balcony. Not only does the minimalist look complement the modern architecture but the lack of balustrade frames create a less invasive appearance which doesn’t obstruct the view.
Although we weren’t installing the balustrade, it still had to be fabricated before delivery. This meant cutting the tubes, rubber gaskets and balustrade to the customer’s required dimensions in 0ur designated workshop.
Once fabricated, the balustrade was carefully packaged and given to our preferred courier for next day delivery. Everything is now fitted and only accentuates the very modern look of the Jays’ home.
